Why Game Development?

After experiencing all sorts of disappointments in life, I thought to myself "What now?!". I wasn't really happy with this kind of life. It has been over a decade since I seriously programmed a game and I even forgot some of the basics of programming. I also realized that I only have one life. Who knows what happens when we die? Will I get another chance to have a happy and comfortable life? Will I be stuck doing some other job that I don't even enjoy doing, or worse, get stuck in unemployment because of how America is today?

I thought that I didn't want to waste my life. We're all going to die someday, so I might as well do what I've always wanted to do in life. I don't want to have any regrets later on when it's my turn to leave this earth.

I knew that I've probably been left behind by the technology. I didn't even know that there was already C# and even F#. I didn't know what .Net was for. I decided that it was time to review and learn once again the art of game development and programming. One of my inspirations for doing so comes from seeing how other independent game developers achieved success in the gaming industry.

Look at the people who made "Minecraft" and "Angry Birds". Look at games like "Limbo". These games weren't made by giant companies like Nintendo, EA, Sony, or Microsoft. These were made by people who honed their game development skills despite the odds. They became successful because they did what they had to do. They didn't let anybody put them down even when everyone's saying there's no way they can compete with the big gaming industry leaders. Instead, they pushed through with their projects and with their fun games, won the hearts of gamers all over the world.

I also aim for the same thing. I want to create games that people will love to play. I want to create games that even I will be addicted to playing. When I read forums, I want to see my games mentioned as "Fun!" and "Memorable!". I want to find out that people are having a great blast playing my games. Of course, earning money in order to live a secure and comfortable life is one of my aims, but I believe that money will follow when I create truly wonderful games.

Before I can do all that, I'll have to practice and educate myself again, and this is why I put up this website. I want to be able to see how far I'll get to. I want to see how my game ideas will evolve. I also want to share this experience with the readers of this website. Maybe someday when I become really good enough, I'll be able to add more members to Adeno Games for different roles such as 3D Modeller/Animator, extra Programmers, and whoever else can make the task of creating games a lot more possible with great quality. For now, I'll have to learn to do each role in a game development team and do them on my own. At least this way, I'll understand how each role makes a person thinks and what can help make each job more efficient and easy. I hope to someday look back to this website and say "My success can be traced back to here!".
